Hallo which is pretty inafomrl german greeting and by my accent marks me as a foreigner. 1 woman greeted me back. 5 women said nothing. 1 man stared at me his eyebrows lowered. He could simply have been struggling with his breath as he was breathing heavily. Because of the nature of the run, I passed 4 of the runners when I did the turn and retraced my path. It was interesting to note that one woman greeted me on the re-pass (perhaps she was surprised by my first greeting and had time to formulate a response?) while the other 3 simply avoided eye contact. As always, I enjoy your posts and their relevance to the ongoing pursiut of cultural intelligence!

that Singapore is working with US to work out deilats of the plan to station US combat ships in Singapore. If war breaks out between US and another Asian power because of US extreme provocations and aggression Singapore cannot hope to escape attack and destruction. If our politicians want to be a pawn to US aggression and terrorism and willing to die for their US masters by all means do so, but don't drag Singaporeans along for they have no right to sign Singasporeans' death warrant or death penalty.Singaporeans must now wake up to the danger that our politicians , our naive ministers are exposing us to the great danger of big power destructive politics especially from the West headed by US. Singaporeans can no longer keep quiet but rise up to protest and resist fiercely the US evil scheme of using Singapore as a military base for its evil designs of aggression in Asia. We must not allow our ministers who are obviously too simple minded and obsequious to US to decide our fate.Southernglory1

Actually, we needn't worry. The sg.gov is extremely privotcae and woderful at solving problems by the use of force - at the extreme level no management in private enterprise can match.Chewing gum a problem? Ban it. People broke at 85? Force them to pay during their productive years, lock up their money. Opposition making too much noise? Jail the motherfucker. Sue him if he still "kwai lan".Foreign press ruining the good name of the leaders? Sue them, ban their publication. Drug peddling? Convict and execute a few small-time "mules". Dirty, ill-bred inconsiderate arseholes won't flush toilets? Install automatic flush system. High-brow Singaporeans won't do menial jobs? Employ cheap-ass foreign labour, and force down local wages....the list goes on. All this (and more) is accomplished by the use of absolute, no-nonsense, shut-the-fuck-up-and obey, use of FORCE. Backed up in most cases by LAW.When you have the absolute use of FORCE, you don't need foresight. If only privateers had this kind of POWER....

I think there are some half truths there...................................but we caonnt generalise too much...................................PRECISELY .............................."many in the 70s and 80s are rich beyond your imaginations......and many are so rich that they don't need financial planners. they have money flowing out of their ears......"..............................TRUE as MANY has become filthy rich as they journeyed with SG from 3rd world.. ................................we must not accept a few oddities to justify a solution, especially a compulsive one, for the rest of the people.................................A FEW.. just a few? Where did you get that assumption? If you shud go places like chinatown, jalan besar to observe the people in the 60 to 80 years age group, you would know that they are not financially adequate for retirement, and they arent just a few oddities either. For people of that generation, it is still top 20 and bottom 80 percentile; and that 80 bottom NEEDS help. The facts must have been properly collated so that the authorities know the situation before making up the policies. If it is just a few oddities, I doubt they would waste their time and resources to implement the changes. TRUTH is there are plenty of financially successful dudes above 60 years, but they are only the minority. There is an OVERWHELMING majority of retirees belonging to that generation who is likely to need some form of help in today's high costs living environment, IF they live into their 80s and 90s.

corruption can not be 100% removed. It must be ruedced by instilling fear in the minds of corrupt people. AS on today, there is no mechanism (What ever is there is already compromised and not transparent). And one must start some where. you can not just simply sit around saying corruption can not be removed 100% and hence, I will not do anything. I must try and reduce it atleast.METHOD : ANNA is not adamant on his bill. He just says govt. must come forward and declare why it does not want to include any of the provisions of JAN LOKPAL Bill in public. All negotiations with ANNA team and govt. must be in full public view. This will expose govt.'s real intent. But govt. does not want ithis bill. WHY? they are saying it is prerogative of SANSAD to prepare and pass a bill. ANNA is also saying same,. He is just saying why you do not include JAN LOKPAL BILL Provisions? That is it.PROMISE : ANNA is not offering a solution to be implemented. He is just showing a way. Which every one should follow and achieve a target. This is just the beginning. Like Polio eradication, Corruption can also be ruedced and that can also happen the same way. BUt every system takes shape over a period of time. By trial and error, they will arrive at a best way to watch and eradicate corruption. but it takes time. even POLIO, after so many years and millions of money sepnt, is not totally eradicated, but ruedced.END GOAL : End goal is tio instill fear in the mind so that people do not indulge in corruption. Today, fear is not there and hecen, so much corruption. You have every right to be pessimistic. And you may be right in some of your observations also. But, ANNA is getting so much support (Without paying any thing to those supporters who come to attned such meetings) because of every one is having it enough. they genuinely want to reduce (If not eliminate) corruption. I believe your view was shaped by all otehr people saying so many things about JAN LOKPAL. I suggest you watch ANNA himself fully and then shape your opiniion. Thanks for a wonderful website. Now, I will be a regular visitor.Bhuvnesh Thakar
